Interior:
- Replace Smoke and CO Detector batteries.
- Service your whole house humidifier. Replace the evaporator element. Clean the water supply orifice and drain hose connections, open the damper and turn the unit on.
- Replace your furnace filter monthly during heating season.
- Close storm windows.
Exterior:
- Inspect windows for damage and loose glazing putty.
- Replace deteriorated weather stripping around windows and doors.
- Clean gutters and downspouts.
- Cut grass to a shorter length and rake and remove leaves and debris from your yard.
- Trim trees and shrubs, expecially those that are touching buildings.
- Shut off valve to exterior faucets/hose bibs. Leave faucets open. Drain and store outside yard hoses.
- Have heating systems cleaned and safety checked.
