Is This a Good Time to Buy?

With the economy still plodding along and the housing market not rebounding as quickly as many of us would like this is a question many are asking? Should I buy a home now? Should I wait?

I have been selling real estate since 1992 and this is the best BUYER'S market I have ever seen. There are so many homes to choose from, prices haven't been this low in YEARS and interest rates are still hovering around 5% fixed for thirty years. I remember being ecstatic when I was able to refinance my home to an interest rate of 5.75% on a 15 year loan. You can buy now and pay less than you would to rent. And you will have all the tax benefits of home ownership.

FHA will finance with 3.5% down and there are down payment assistance programs for buyers who haven't been able to save the money for a down payment. You could own a home putting down a minimum of $1,000. Seriously!

I looked at a home yesterday that was four bedrooms, two baths, two fireplaces, nice big kitchen, deck and over 1/2 acre of land for $159,000. You could buy a brand new townhome for $149,000 - three bedrooms, two baths with a two car garage.

If you have been hesitating and want to 'get your feet wet' call or email me. We could look at some homes to give you an idea of what you could buy. Check my website if you would like to search for homes currently on the market. You can get started on the road to home ownership.
